Ticket/Flight Coupon Refunds
Our Ticket Refund Site at www.refunds.aa.com* gives you access to the following options:
    Request a refund online
    You will receive immediate feedback about the eligibility of your ticket and be presented with options regarding your ticket and refund request.

    This option will also allow you to view a copy of your ticket which you can print for records/expense reports.

    Lost Ticket Application
    If you have lost your paper ticket/flight coupons, choose this option.

    Check Refund Status
    Use this feature to check status on previously submitted refund requests.

    Find Ticket Number
    Use this feature to find UNUSED TICKETS that are LESS THAN 13 MONTHS OLD.

Baggage Charge Refunds
You may request a refund at the ticket counter before leaving the airport or mail the original baggage charge receipt to:

When submitting a refund request please include:
  • The passenger's name
  • Address
  • The form of payment used (including the last 4 digits of the credit card number, if applicable)
  • The ticket number(s)
  • The date of travel
  • The departure city and destination city
  • Original baggage charge receipt
Remember to keep a copy of the baggage charge receipt for your records. Requests for baggage charge refunds are processed independently from ticket refunds, if you need any other refunds please request at www.refunds.aa.com/


Cargo And Priority Parcel Service (PPS) Refunds
In the event that your shipment experiences conditions resulting in a loss or damage, please visit the Liability, Claims and Insurance* page on AACargo.com to submit a claim.

American Airlines Vacations Tour Package Refunds
Application for refunds, if permitted, must be made in writing within 30 days of scheduled return and must be accompanied by all negotiable tour vouchers and air tickets. Allow 4-8 weeks for processing.

Include your telephone numbers with correspondence, and mail to:

No refunds will be given on unused or partially used land components or features, including unused hotel nights or other package components (i.e. transfers).

AAdvantage Award Travel Mileage Reinstatement
If you have not used your AAdvantage award ticket and it has not expired, you can request to have your AAdvantage mileage reinstated. Partially used tickets cannot be reinstated and miles that would have expired will not be reinstated.

When requesting a reinstatement, there will be a $150 processing charge per account for the first award. Any additional awards reinstated to the same account at the same time will have a $25 USD per award.

If you have an electronic ticket and wish to reinstate your AAdvantage mileage, please call 1-800-882-8880 to cancel your reservation and request your mileage reinstatement.

If you have a paper ticket, please call 1-800-882-8880 to cancel your reservation and mail your paper ticket and reinstatement request to:
